Your Padel Glass Is Shaking During Play — Is That Normal?

Does your padel court glass shake or make noise during play? Learn what is normal and what may indicate fixing, frame, gap or installation problems.

You hit the back glass.

The panel moves.

Maybe you hear a slight vibration.

The first question is usually:

"Is my padel glass supposed to do that?"

Some movement under impact can occur because the glass and court structure are not infinitely rigid.

But obvious shaking, rattling or repeated knocking should not simply be ignored.

Possible Cause #1: Loose Fixings

Court vibration can gradually affect improperly secured hardware.

If fixings become loose, panel movement may increase and noise can appear during ball impact or player contact.

Possible Cause #2: Missing or Damaged Isolation Material

Glass should not knock directly against metal.

Suitable gaskets, washers or isolation components help prevent hard contact around fixing points.

If these parts are missing, incorrectly installed or damaged, vibration may create noise and local stress.

Possible Cause #3: Frame Movement

Sometimes the glass isn't actually the main problem.

The entire steel structure may be moving.

Check the posts, anchors and connections before tightening glass hardware blindly.

Over-tightening is not a proper solution and may create additional stress.

Possible Cause #4: Incorrect Panel Gaps

Adjacent panels need suitable separation.

If two glass edges contact each other during vibration, the impact occurs at one of the most vulnerable parts of tempered glass: the edge.

This should be corrected.

What Should Club Owners Do?

If unusual movement appears:

Stop and inspect before the problem becomes worse.

Check:

Fixing bolts

Gaskets and washers

Panel gaps

Frame alignment

Glass edges

Base connections

If you see edge damage or direct glass-to-metal contact, ask an experienced installer to evaluate the court.

Don't Just Tighten Every Bolt

This is a common mistake.

More tightening does not automatically mean more safety.

Glass needs to be held correctly without creating excessive local stress.

The goal is controlled support-not maximum clamping force.
